"Lloyd W Brown, 93, of 24853 State Highway 89, Spartansburg, died on Sunday, Aug 7, 2005, at the Compassionate Home Care in Corry, where he had been residing for the last three months. He was born in Eldred Township, Warren County, on Dec 3, 1911, a son of the late Fred and Lela Stanford Brown. Mr Brown was raised and educated in Eldred Township where he attended Eldred Township school. After school he worked for a tannery in West Hickory, and then during the depression for [the] WPA as a owner-operator truck driver. He later worked on the Great Lakes and then for Aero Supply during WWII. He also was a logger and worked in the oil fields. He worked for a short while at Corry Manufacturing Co and later for Ajax Co (Cooper Industries) for 10 years as an inspector, retiring in 1976. After retiring he enjoyed working on the family farm and working with his draft horses. He had attended [the] First Baptist Church and enjoyed hunting, farming and being outdoors. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Daisy Albretch (sic) [Albrecht] and by four brothers, Paul, Leo, Homer and Louis Brown. He is survived by his wife, Helen M Crosby Brown, whom he married on Aug 23, 1957, in Spartansburg. He is also survived by a daughter, Sharon Dross and her husband, William Jr, of Cochranton; and by a son, Robert Brown of Spartansburg;...four grandchildren...a step-grandchild...[and] several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, 211 Mechanic St, Spartansburg...and may attend a funeral service there on Wednesday at 11 am with Rev Earl Gutberlet, pastor of the Spartansburg Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Spartansburg."
