Mary Ann Downey, 83, of Rockford, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019. Born January 30, 1936, in Clinton, IA, the daughter of John L. and Anna (Howard) Andresen. Graduate of St. Anthony's School of Nursing, 1957. She married Harold J. Downey on October 6, 1967 in Rockford.
He predeceased her on March 23, 1988. Mary Ann was a member of St. Edwards Church.
Survived by son, Joseph Bailey of Rockford; step-son, Richard (Kanella) Downey of Rockford; daughter-in-law, Susan Downey of North Carolina; grandsons, Timothy Downey and Joseph Bailey; granddaughters, Jennifer ( Steve) Lawrence, Katie Downey, and Rebecca Bailey; sister, Judy (Donald) Hinz; three great-grandchildren, Evelyn Bailey, Kaiden Barnes, and Oliver Bailey; and nephews, Ronald and Vance Hinz.
Also predeceased by her parents; son, Terrance; granddaughter, Rebecca Downey; and great-grandchild, Blake Lawrence.
Visitation will be from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 8, 2019 in Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford, with Father William Wentink officiating. Graveside Service will immediately follow the visitation in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Machesney Park, IL.
