GAROLD'S OBITUARY

Garold Steele, 76, of Unionville, MO, passed away at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA, on Tuesday, February 5, 2019, where he had been a patient for about a week.

Garold Wayne Steele, was born in Unionville, MO, on May 13, 1942, the son of Wayne and Juanita (Fullerton) Steele, who preceded him in death. He graduated from Unionville High School in 1960 and married Sharon Lowe in Unionville on January 7, 1961, and she survives at home. Garold worked for Jay Rhoades on the farm in Lucerne after graduation, but then went to Chicago to study drafting for electrical engineering. He soon returned to the family farm in Putnam County where he and Sharon began farming, raising crops and cattle. Garold later worked for Missouri Mining for a number of years and as a mechanic on heavy equipment until injured in a car accident in 1995. Garold was a hard worker at his jobs and on the farm. Yet he always made time for fun with the kids and grandkids.

Garold like to fish and especially to hand fish (a Steele family tradition). He loved to attend all the sporting events of his children and grandchildren and also to watch them show livestock. Garold was a patient husband and father and he also had a dry and “warped” sense of humor in teasing his family, whom he loved dearly. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Unionville and a former member of the North American Limousin Foundation.

Garold is survived by a daughter, Barb (Jerry) Tilden; a son, Jim (Liz) Steele; and daughter-in-law, Angie Steele all of Unionville, MO. His grandchildren are Amanda Bonnell, Brooke Hunt, Jennifer Lansdale, Jeffrey Garten, Brandi Garten, Danielle Luchsinger, Josh Steele, Jessica Holt, Katie Fairley, Redgy Tilden, and Payton Tilden. His step-grandchildren are Randy and Colby Tilden. Garold is also survived by 17 great grandchildren (with one on the way), as well as a brother, Joe (Nancy) Steele, of Troy, MO; two sisters, Liyla (John) Milner of Independence, MO, and Margaret Henson of Lee’s Summit, MO; and a sister-in-law, Debbie Lowe.

In addition to his parents, Garold was preceded in death by two sons, John Steele and Jeff Steele, a sister, Aneta Couchman, a nephew, Steve Milner, and two brothers-in-law, Andy Lowe and Donnie Lowe.

Funeral services for Garold Steele will be at Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home at 2:00 pm on Monday, February 11, 2019, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Thompson Cemetery.
