James A. “Jimmy” Louderback, 71, of Brazil, Indiana passed away on February 7, 2019 at Providence Health Care, in St. Mary’s of the Woods following a lengthy illness.

Jimmy was born on July 8, 1947, in Brazil, Indiana the son of James C. and Thelma C. (Bridgewater) Louderback. When he was in the 6th grade his family moved to Ogden, Utah. He graduated from Ben Lomond High School with the class of 1965 and attended Weber State College.

He moved back to Indiana in his mid 20’s and began working at the I-70 Truck Stop. A few years later he obtained a job at the Putnamville Correctional Facility as a Correctional Officer. Over the next 30 years he moved up the ranks and retired in 2012 as a Correctional Counselor.

He loved children and enjoyed coaching baseball and softball. He was an avid sports fan especially the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Indianapolis Colts. He and his wife Cathy attended Bethel United Methodist Church. There Jimmy volunteered his time with the youth as a cabin leader and fish dad. He was a member of the Cloverdale Masonic Lodge # 134 and El Shaddai Walk # 75.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents James C. and Thelma Louderback.

He is survived by his wife Cathy Jones whom he married on November 20, 1993. He is also survived by his siblings: Leon Louderback and wife Shirley, Sue McFarlin, Mary Thompson and husband Bill all of Brazil; foreign exchange student and “daughter” Katsuko Iishi; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be at French Funeral Home, 421 East National Ave. Brazil, Indiana 47834, on Sunday, February 10, 2019 from 4-8pm. Services will be held at the funeral home on Monday, at 11:00am with Pastor Mary Jo Archer officiating. Burial will be held at Clearview Cemetery.
