He took a severe cold while acting in the capacity of gate tender at our late Fair, a congestive chill followed. He suffered greatly, was delerious and death came as a relief. Deceased was born in 1838, in Perry Co, Ind; moved while young to Kentucky, and was many years engaged as inspector of steamboats on the Mississippi. In 1872 he settled in Titusville, and was associated with James Parshall in the music store, and for the past eight years has filled the office of City Collector of Taxes. He was [an] assessor in the Second Ward. Mr Roff was an upright man, and respected and trusted as a public official. He married Miss Francis Shugart. daughter of John Shugart, of Tidioute, who survives him, with two daughters who recently graduated at the Titusville High School, and one son. The deceased has a father and mother and two brothers living in Kentucky, and one brother in Kansas and one in Illinois.
