Second son of Wilfred Emil Hall Sr. and Ebba Hovi Hall, he was legally adopted by his stepfather Dr. Fred R. Haselton in 1939, hence the surname Haselton. He married first Gloria Cherry and secondly Barbara Urban. His four children are by his first wife Gloria; they are Lisa Louise, Gloria Gail, John Hall, and James Russell. John lived on a farm near his brother Bill most of his adult life. He had a heart transplant in 1977 and lived 13 years afterwards. He was a stockbroker for J.C. Bradford and Co. His favorite hobby was gardening.
