Son of Clarence E Huntley Jr. and Edith VanHorn Huntley, husband of Helen Tidd Ballard Huntley. Born in South Norwalk, Connecticut, he was graduated from the College of Law, Syracuse University, in 1920. His college years at Syracuse, where he also received an undergraduate degree, were interrupted by service with the navy during WWI. While with the Navy, he was a member of the 1920 U.S. Olympic team, competing in the decathlon at Antwerp, Belgium. He was the father of three children: Ballard, Suzanne, and Douglas.
