Son of Clarence E Huntley Sr. and Clara Alvord Huntley, his mother died when he was only two weeks old. His father remarried to Florence Bronson and he and his older brother Seth were raised by her. In 1895 he married Edith Van Horn and they had two boys, Clarence E Huntley III and Harry Amos.
He was a conductor on the New York, New Haven, and Danbury Railroad and in 1902 he was crushed to death in a railway accident, leaving a wife and two very young sons.
