Dorothy Neal Bonham, born Sept. 10, 1913, in Nashville, Tenn., died Monday, Oct. 1, 2001, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center Cardiac Center. She was a resident of Baton Rouge for 30 years and a resident of Zachary for 34 years.
She was a former school teacher and a volunteer for the school and Sunday school. She was an acting director of the Louisiana Arts and Science Museum, a former member and officer of Lane Memorial Hospital Women's Auxiliary and a volunteer with Council on Aging Meals on Wheels. She was a member of Plains Presbyterian Church, Town and Country Book Club, Lampion Book Club and Plainslanders Exxon Annuitants.
She is survived by her children, Mary Anna Bonham Leverett and David N. Bonham of Zachary, James B. Bonham of Baton Rouge, and D. Catherine Bonham Jacocks of Jackson; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Hugh Bonham; parents, Henry E. Neal Jr. and Louis Walkup Neal; brothers, Henry E. Neal III and Thad M. Neal; and a great-grandson, Matthew Gary Blum.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Gary M. Blum Jr., Thomas L. Jacocks Jr., James A. Bonham and Neal D. Bonham, and grandsons-in-law, D. Haas McMillan and Todd H. Coates.
Visiting was at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday. Visiting at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until religious services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Woody Markert. Burial in Jackson Cemetery.
