Bernard was a member of the Lake Chippewa Resort Association and the Chippewa Flowage Property Owners Association. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. One of his favorite pastimes was tying flies for crappie jigs. Bernard was frequently seen in his boat fishing for crappies around the Big Chippewa.
He is survived by his son Thomas (Denise) Rasine, Bensenville, IL; five daughters, Dianne (Terry) Wilke, Couderay, WI; Patricia (Raymond) Ornberg, El Paso, TX; Susan (Donald) Sturwold, Burr Oak, MI; Linda (Robert) Wilkins, North Billerica, MA; and Barbara (Scott) Wittlock, Burr Oak, MI; 20 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; and one sister, Lorraine Dahl. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Jeanne.
