Born Wilfred Emil 'Bill' Hall Jr., firstborn son of Wilfred Emil Hall and Ebba Hovi, he was legally adopted by his stepfather, Dr. Frederick Russell Haselton, at age 12, hence the surname Haselton. His own father drowned tragically in a boating accident when 'Bill' was age 6. Wife Suzanne Huntley, father of four children: Linda, Bill, Claire, Sheree. He was a pharmaceutical sales rep who lived nearly all of his adult life on his farm in SW Davidson Co, Nashville, TN, very near his brother John. He suffered a debilitating stroke in 1994 and was three years confined to a wheelchair prior to his death. Despite being paralyzed on his left side, and dependent on others for his care, he maintained a cheerful countenance and was an inspiration to us all at the end of his life. Never once did I hear him complain about the hand he had been dealt.
