She was born in Bancroft, WI on March 4, 1933, a daughter of the late Floyd and Ruby (Campbell) Ostrander.
She was married to Gust Smith on Feb. 4, 1956, in Bancroft, WI and he passed away Feb. 18, 1996.
Helen worked at Woodstock Die Cast and Filtertek in Hebron, retiring in 1996.
She was a member of Hebron United Methodist Church, the Service Club, was in charge of the Senior Coffee for many years, organizer of the Golden Dinners, worked/helped the Hebron Food Pantry and the Hebron Public Library. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and had the honor of being chosen Community Citizen of the Year by the Alden-Hebron Grange on April 26, 1999. She never missed a sporting event of her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Helen is survived by a daughter, Evelyn (the late Steve) Halbmaier, of Hebron; five grandchildren Brooke(Rob) Maule, Anthony, Jarrick and Kyle Smith and Landon (Samantha) Smith; six great grandchildren Gwendolyn, Mackenzie, Payton, Ava, Kohen and Waylon; a brother Delbert Ostrander of Bancroft, WI plus sisters-in-law June (Lee) Haines of Florida, Alice (Gordon) Johnson of Hebron and Margaret (the late Don) Smith of Lake Geneva and Phyllis Smith.
She was preceded by a son Freddie Smith, two sisters Mary Jane Krah and Hazel Hanson, three brothers Jerry "Rich", Robert and Clifford Ostrander.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. Friday Feb. 1, 2019 until the funeral service at 6:00 p.m. at Ehorn-Adams Funeral Home 9625 Main St, Hebron. Rev. Eric Blanchford will officiate.
Interment will be in Linn-Hebron Cemetery in Hebron, on Saturday.
