Hazel Fleming
Hazel O. Fleming, 80, a resident of the Nebraska Veterans Home, died Wednesday. Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the All Faiths Chapel at the veterans home. The Rev. George Wheat will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 3-9 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the veterans home. Memorials are
suggested to the Hazel Flemming Memorial Fund.
Mrs. Fleming was born Aug 15, 1904 at St. Paul, the daughter of William and Polly Fuller Cook. She grew up in the Central City area and received her education there.
She married Charles Humiston in 1922 at Central City. They lived in the Central City area. Mr. Humiston died in 1930. In the early 1930's she moved to Grand Island.
She married Henry Fleming in 1947 at Grand Island. They made their home here.
Mr. Fleming died in 1959. She entered the Nebraska Veterans Home in 1981
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Harold ( Betty ) Johnson of Aurora, Doris Elrod of Grand Island, and Mrs. Robert ( Darlene ) Dooley of Bloomfield; a son, Robert Humiston of Grand Island; 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Opal Pettigrew of Central City, and two brothers, Howard Cook of Eugene, Or., and Clarence Cook of Denver, Co.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
