Lawrence "Gene" Ratledge, 72, of 207 Caroline St. died Friday, Feb. 11, 2005, at Pekin Living and Rehabilitation Center.

Born April 17, 1932, in Maryville, Tenn., to Thomas and Mary Long Ratledge, he married Verna Gosnell. He later married Brenda Strange. He then married Danya M. Lostutter on Sept. 23, 1989, in Pekin. She survives.

Surviving are one son, Lawrence "Larry" II (and Belinda) of Chicago; one stepson, Keith Notter of Pekin; Scott Cleaver of Pekin, whom he raised; five daughters, Laura (and Bill) Welbourne, Karen Zimmerman and Christy Campbell, all of Pekin, Beth Ratledge of Harrisburg, Tenn., and Michelle Ratledge of Chicago; one stepdaughter, Marilyn Garrison of Pekin; and two brothers, Hugh Dean and Wayne, both of Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.

He was a Korean War Army veteran.

He worked in the steel mill at Keystone Steel & Wire Co. in Bartonville for 17 years, retiring in 1968. He also owned and operated Angelo's Pizza and Marigold Restaurant for several years. He owned Pekin Softwater Service and was manager of Echo Water in Peoria.

Entombment will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
