James William Adkisson

Cane Ridge, TN

Age 84 - September 11, 2016, peacefully with his family by his side. Mr. Adkisson was a member of Tusculum Church of Christ for 48 years. He worked 47 years as an insulator for Local #86 and 33 years as their Financial Secretary. He was a 1950 graduate of Columbia Central High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War serving in Germany. He was a kind and soft spoken man of few words. His love for his large family was one of his greatest joys. He was a hard worker and a good provider. He was a true family man always wanting to teach his children and grandchildren right from wrong, by showing by example.

Preceded in death by parents, William M. Adkisson & Sarah Erwin Adkisson.

Survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Alice Graves Adkisson; daughters, Sherri (Mark) Black & Karen Adkisson; sons, Steve (Lynn) Adkisson & Phil (Melissa) Adkisson; grandsons, Alex (Sarah) Black, Jake Adkisson, Robby Adkisson & Austin Black; granddaughters, Lauren (Caleb) Hale, Leigh Ann Adkisson, Andi Black & Morgan Adkisson; great grandsons, Eli Black & Connor Hale; great granddaughters, Emery Black & Cora Hale; and first cousin, Arlene Hubbell.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, September 15, 2016, at 11:30 a.m. at Woodbine Funeral Home, HICKORY CHAPEL, 5852 Nolensville Road, by Steve Cummings.

Interment 2 p.m. at McCains Cemetery, Culleoka, TN, with Military Honors. Active Pallbearers: Grandsons and Kyle Maxson, Caleb Hale & Jordan Harris.
