He was born May 7, 1984 in Tyler, Texas and graduated from Trinity High School in 2002. Following his passion for the outdoors, Ryan went on to study Outdoor Recreation and Park Administration at Eastern Kentucky University, graduating in 2009.
Ryan was a Naturalist with Jefferson Memorial Forest in Louisville, Kentucky for seven years, and a former Interpretive Naturalist Ranger in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming. He worked as a naturalist at the Heller Nature Center, Highland Park, Illinois in September 2017.
He was a kind person, always had a smile and loved nature.
Ryan is survived by his parents, Ben and Lenora (Coates) Zike, brother, Kevin Zike, paternal grandparents, Ron & Deevie (Foreman) Zike, maternal grandmother, Lenora (Maravilla) Metcalfe, aunts & uncles, Jim & Karen (Zike) Krinock, Steve & Gail (Werderitsch) Zike, cousins, Logan & Samantha Zike, niece, Layla Zike, and extended family member, Leslee (Faith) Heitz.
