Moses J. Barrett
Dies at Muncie
Moses James Barrett 75, of 1811 North A Street died at the Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie at 12:30 o'clock Tuesday Noon of complication following an illness of several months.
Born July 4, 1870 in Dade County, Missouri, he was the son of Elijah and Melinda Barrett. He was married to Miss Elizabeth Rollins who preceded him in death in the year 1936.
Survivors include three sons, William Barrett of Elwood, Dee and Charles, both of Gary, three daughters, Mrs Litah Irvin and Mrs. Nettie Lee of Gary, and Mrs. Ruth Lutz of Mio, Michigan, two brothers, Robert Barrett of Elwood, and Frank Barrett of Middletown; a sister Mrs. Anna Myers of Anderson and a half brother, Charles Barrett, also of Anderson.
The body was removed to the Robert L. Jackley funeral home, where it will remain.
Funeral services will be held at the Jackley home Friday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Rev. J. B. Sparling, pastor of the Grace Methodist Church, will be in charge. Burial will be made in the City cemetery.
Moses' obituary lists his name as Moses James Barrett, however other documents I have found lists his given name as Moses Jackson Barrett. Moses is listed as James Barrett on the 1920 census, working in Lake County, Indiana. He was listed as a laborer working in one of the steel mills.
