WILLIAM R. MALAN, 31

W. R. MALAN BROUGHT TO HAWORTH FOR BURIAL
Mr. William R. Malan, age 31, who was connected with the Haworth garage last year, died in Burkburnett sanitarium at 3:30 A. M. December 8th, 1920.
His remains arrived here Thursday night accompanied by his brother, Floyd Malan. The funeral services were held at the Haworth cemetery where the remains were laid to rest.
Mr. Malan was a member of the Baptist church; he was married to Mrs. Vera Wood on the 31st day of December, 1919 and they have since resided in Burkburnett, Texas.
He leaves a wife, mother, three brothers and sisters to mourn his death.
Many beautiful flowers were sent from Muskogee, by his sisters who were unable to attend the funeral. Mr. Malan leaves a host of friends in Haworth who extends sympathy to the berieved {Sic} relatives.

She (Mary Mollie O'Dell Lammers) was first married to Ruben Malan, who died about 35 years ago. To this union were born 8 children, 6 of whom survive her; J. W. Malan of Venita, Oklahoma; Mrs. Henry Hill of Venita, Okla.; Mrs. Lawrence Litton of Seminole Okla.; Paul Malan, Beggs, Okla.
Two sons preceded her in death, one in infancy, and William Malan in 1920.
She is also survived by 3 brothers and 2 sisters, John Odell, Tresa, Kans.; George Odell, Tulsa, Okla.; Frank Odell, Tresa, Kansas; Mrs. Alice Eggers, St. Louis; and Mrs. Ella Stagner, St. Louis, MO.

I think the John they have listed was actually John (Jean Daniel) Malan Reuben's father and not Mollie's father.
In 1870 census for Benton, Osage Co, MO it has Mollie Odell 7 yrs. old living with her parents George Odell 37 Yrs. old and mother Nancy J. Odell 25 yrs. old.
In 1880 census Crawford, Osage Co, MO there is George W. Odles 45 yrs. old, Nancy J. Odles 33 yrs. old, John H. Odles 8 yrs. old, Martha A. (Alice) Odles 7 yrs. old and George R. Odles 5 yrs. old.
In 1900 Crawford, Osage, MO census she is married to Reuben and they have children John W., Eva M., Willie R., Lola, Paul, Floyd D., and Leora.
I am sure "Mollie" Mary Susan Odell was the child of George Washington Odell and Nancy Jane Weddle.
Search Historical Newspapers has George married to Nancy Ann Hines on 31 Aug. 1871 in ILL. and married Alfaretta Hunsinger on 15 March 1874 in ILL. which can not be the same George W. Odell that was the father of Mollie because the dates and names listed in census do not agree.

"Mollie" Mary Susan(Odell) Malan was my great grandmother, my grandfather was John Washington Malan, my father was Boyd Raymond Malan.
