Mary was born in the Mount Moriah community to Guss and Grace Letson Moats, both deceased. She was preceded in death by her son, Darrell Nicholson; granddaughter, Nichole Nicholson; sisters, Lorene Hutson, Evelyn Moultrie and Argie McPherson; brothers, Matthew Moats, Clarence Moats, Bob Moats, Joe Moats and Price Moats.
She is survived by her brother, Buddy Moats, Acampo, California; sisters, Helen Lazzarone, Sacramento, California; and Arlene Gillespie; Moulton; loving niece and nephew, Sonya Gillespie Whalen and David Lazzarone; nephew-in-law, Eric Whalen; great-niece, Hannah Whalen; great-nephews, Cole Whalen and Beau Whalen; many other nieces and nephews, and many beloved friends.
Mary enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing and visiting with her friends in her neighborhood. She loved to take food to anyone that was sick and the “shut-in.” She loved God with all her heart and was a great believer in prayer.
Funeral will be Monday, January 21, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Elliott Brown-Service Funeral Home with Brother Roger Loosier and Ronald Davis presiding. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Moulton Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Eric Whalen, Brian McKelvey, Cole Whalen, Beau Whalen and Jackson Cole Landers.
