HAND, SHIRLEY ANN CARTWRIGHT , beloved wife, daughter, sister and friend went to be with her Lord on Sunday, November 28, 2004. She was born July 16, 1944 in Dallas, Texas to Louise and C. D. Cartwright.
After graduating from Wilmer-Hutchins High School, she attended college at Southwestern Assembly of God College and North Texas State University earning a Bachelors Degree and then on to receive her Masters from Sul Ross University. Shirley was a gifted teacher of thirty years, specializing in elementary education and ESL.
She is survived by her husband, Ronald E. Hand of Port Neches, Texas; step-son Kevin Hand of Dallas; mother, Louise Cartwright of DeSoto; sister, Linda and husband Jimmy Wray of Kauai; brother, C. Daniel, Jr. and wife Kathy Cartwright of Winnsboro; beloved nephew, Joey Wray; two nieces, Lisa Leggett and Stacie Cartwright; and four great-nephews, Harrison Wray, Noah & Nicholas Leggett and Riley Norwood.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 1, at the funeral home 6 to 8 p.m., with the funeral at 2 PM on Thursday, December 2. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association. Shirley touched the hearts of many and was a blessing to all.
