John Beier, 56, passed away on Jan. 12, 2019, at his home in Anchorage, Alaska, due to complications of Parkinson's disease. John Elvin Beier was born on April 24, 1962, in Portland, Ore. He became a Christian as a teenager at Lebanon Chapel in Lebanon, Ore. He graduated from high school in 1982 and came to Alaska in 1983, living here almost 36 years. He worked as a life guard in Oregon, and in Anchorage he managed the East High swimming pool. He graduated from Abbot Loop Bible School in 1985. John married Janet Haley on Nov. 18, 1989. He founded Beier's Auto, the business he ran for almost 30 years. John was a single mom's kid and always looked after automotive needs of single moms. John loved to share Jesus with everyone he met, in natural and relational ways. He was an elder and evangelist at Abbot Loop Community Church for many years. He received a Doctor of Divinity Degree from Northwest Christian University in Florida. He was a very loving husband and an incredible fun dad, who loved to go adventuring with his kids. He loved fishing and hunting with friends and family.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Beier; and their four children, Marissa Conklin (Brandon) Christian Beier, Charity Beier and Mercy Beier; and one very special grandson, Lincoln. He is also survived by his mother, Diana Lander; adopted father, Lynn Beier (Norma); and biological father George Toppila; sister, Margie; brothers, Willie (Marla) and Ross (Crystal); and nieces and nephews.
John Beier was an amazing unique man who loved Jesus, his family and his many friends; God only knows how many lives he touched. His reward in heaven is great and he will be missed by many on Earth.
A celebration of life was held at Abbot Loop Community Church, 2626 Abbott Road in Anchorage, on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to John's favorite ministry, Aloha International Ministries.
