Mrs. Louise Thompson Braddy, age 96, of Tarrytown, died Sunday, January 27, 2019, peacefully at her home, after an extended illness. She was a native of Montgomery County and lived there all of her life. She was a 1939 graduate of Brewton-Parker High School and was a 1955 graduate of Georgia Teachers College, now Georgia Southern University in Statesboro. Mrs. Braddy taught 4th grade most of her career at Montgomery County Elementary School and retired after thirty-two years. She was a member of the Georgia retired Teachers Association. She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for more than forty years, served as church pianist, sang in the choir, served on the Pulpit Committee, and was former president of the Woman’s Missionary Union. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Edward Braddy, Sr.; grandson, Jody Coleman Braddy; parents, Henry McGee Thompson and Trudie Mae Walker Thompson; four brothers, Edward, Wade, Ray, Don, and Alec.

Mrs. Braddy is survived by one son, James Edward “Jimmy” Braddy, Jr. and wife Dianne; two grandsons, Jaimey Braddy and wife Joanna, and Jon Braddy and wife Mandy, all of Tarrytown; seven great-grandchildren, J.D., Gracie, Stella, Emerson, Scott, Brittleigh, and Bradley, and a great-grandson to be born in June, Jody Edward Braddy, three sisters, Myrtle Johnson of Cartersville, Melba Lehman and husband Carl of Powder Springs, Marian Dunn and husband Clyde of Milner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 29th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Randy McDuffie officiating. Burial will follow in the Braddy Cemetery in Kibbee.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
