Joseph E Carstensen,
Joseph E Carstensen 32 of 2916 Western Ave. Davenport, died at 2:30 pm Tuesday in Mercy Hospital following a long illness. Funeral services will be held at 8:30 am Friday in Halligan funeral home and at 9 am in St Paul the Apostle Catholic church. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary cemetery.
The Knights of Columbus will recite the rosary at 8:30 pm Thursday in the funeral home.
Mr. Carstensen was born Dec. 3, 1923 in Davenport and had lived here all his life. He was a machinist at Rockingham Machine Co. and was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Church, Loras Council No.532 Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society. On June 15, 1946 he married Kathleen Janney in St Anthony's Catholic church. He served in the Navy during World War II.
Surviving are the wife; one daughter, Joanne; two sons, Richard A and Edward M; his parents Mr and Mrs Herman Carstensen of R.R. No 2 Walcott; four brothers, Robert, AJ, Lawrence and Harry, all of Davenport. Seven sisters, Mrs Warren Carter, Mrs Alfred Timmerman, Mrs Gerald Neff and Mrs Jack Pierce, all of Davenport, and Charlotte and Mary Eleanor at home, and the maternal grandmother, Mrs Anna LaFeber of Davenport.
