Obituary Published in the Blair Nebraska Pilot-Tribune August 30, 2005
Anna Hovanec, 97, of Blair, died Aug. 26, 2005. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, at the Herman Community Church. Interment will be in the Bohemian Cemetery in Omaha.
Anna Hovanec was born in Little Falls, N.Y. She and her husband, Michael, lived in New Jersey and New York until Mr. Hovanec retired; they then moved to Arizona, where they lived for 30 years.
Mrs. Hovanec enjoyed sewing, crocheting, flowers and especially knitting. She knitted hundreds of hats and mittens for the Indians in Arizona, plus curtains, tablecloths, etc., and sweaters for everyone she knew.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Olga and Allan Bleecker of Honey Brook, Penn.; son and daughter-in-law, Pastor Dan and Ann Hovanec of Blair; brothers, John, Samuel and Walter Dekanek, 12 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael P. Hovanec; son Michael P. Hovanec, Jr.; and a brother, Paul Dekanek
Memorials are suggested to the Herman Community Church.
Campbell-Aman Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
