Mrs. Marion Baker Kimball, who died in South Dennis Sept 3, in her 82nd year, was a native of this town, and was the last surviving member of seven children born to the late Captain Obed and Miriam (Crowell) Baker. She was born in the house in which she spent her last days. In her younger days she taught the village school and in 1868 she married Judah Baker. Jr, also a native of this town, who died two years later, leaving a son, Judah W. Baker, who still resides here. In 1876 she married Arthur Kimball of Commington, Mass, then teaching at South Dennis, but who later became a prominent physician and surgeon in Battle Creek, Mich. He passed away some years ago leaving two sons, who have since passed on. Since Dr. Kimball's death, his widow has traveled extensively, and for the past 20 years had spent her winters in Florida, her summers on the Cape, and spring and fall at her home In Battle Creek, until a year ago when she realized she was not able to travel as she had and decided to spend her last days at her old home in South Dennis. She was one of the first Florida tourists to take a trip in an airplane, and went up 2000 feet. Any new venture appealed to her. Mrs. Kimball was a great reader and a very interesting talker and endeared herself to all with whom she came In contact. She was always interested in any philanthropy. She gave many books to the Library, helped out the Church Fund, and any activity concerning her home town received her hearty support. Her last days were made brighter by the untiring devotion of a true and loving daughter-in-law, Mrs Judah W. Baker. Mrs Kimball leaves, besides her son, nine grandchildren, Mrs Abbie K. Bearse of Hyannis; Miss Marion Baker, a teacher in Seekonk; Miss Bessie Baker, a teacher In Stoneham; and Mr Charles Baker, who is In Lynn; also the Misses Virginia, Eleanor, Mary, and Josephine and Mr Arthur Kimball Jr. of Battle Creek, Mich., and two greatgrandchildren, besides several nieces and nephews, to mourn her loss.
