Edwin D. Stormont, 72, died Friday, March 2, 2007 at the Ness County Hospital in Ness City, Kansas. He was born to John Wayne and Alta Mae (Conner) Stormont on December 1, 1934 in Lane County.


Edwin was married to Alta Faye Wenger on December 8, 1973 in Ellsworth. She passed away on February 16, 2002.


Edwin was a lifetime resident of Lane County. He graduated from Dighton High School and then served in the Army and then served in the Army Reserves under active duty. He returned to Lane County and was a lifetime farmer.


He enjoyed taking care of his dogs, his fishing, trips to Colorado and spending time with his grandchildren. Edwin was a life member of the National Rifle Association a charter member of the American Motorcycle Association. He also was a member of the First Christian Church of Dighton and was a board member of the J.O.Y. Center.


He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and three brothers.


Survivors include; 2 daughters--Terri Bernstein, Gilbert, AZ; Nicole Rowe, Dighton; 2 sons; Alan Stormont, Littleton, CO.; Daryn Stormont, Phoenix, AZ; 6 grandchildren.


Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2007 at the First Christian Church in Dighton with Rev. Howard Bever officiating. Military rites were the American Legion Post #190 of Dighton.


Memorial may be made to the First Christian Church, American Cancer Society, Silent Angels, J.O.Y. Center or the Ness County Hospital in care of Boomhower Funeral Home, Dighton, Kansas
