Paddy was born to Samuel J. Stuart and Elizabeth Lucas, possibly in Jeffersonville, IN. The birth year of 1832 has also been reported for her. On 8 July 1851, in the home of her brother-in-law, William H. Bedford, in St. Joseph, MO, she married Thomas Jefferson Bedford. To this union, 10 children were born, with 6 surviving to adulthood. A stillborn son was born around March, 1858 and does not appear in the list of children below. Paddy was on a wagon that was driven by her husband when the horses reared up and she fell off and died. In 1871, that was Temescal, San Bernardino Co, CA, as Riverside Co. wasn't created yet.

Since her husband, Tom, owned the 160 acres around the Butterfield station, she probably buried within a 1/2 mile radius of the historical marker. Which means she's under a parking lot, building, or house.

Most likely within 1/2 mile radius of the Butterfield Stage Station marker. (Educated guess).
