Dr. Newton Bennett Barnes was Postmaster in Lewis County WV in 1866 and on the 1870 census Weston, with wife Mary A and children Sophronia M. 23, Etta 21, Tilla 19, Polina 16, John A 14 and Thomas N 13. Also in household is his grandmother Mary Wilson 84.
His father was also a member of 125th regiment of 20th Brigade , Virginia Militia which had headquarters in Weston in 1860. He was U.S. Examining Surgeon.

Children Sophronia M, Harriet Minerva 'Etta', Mary Matilda 'Tilla', Paulina Wilson, Thomas Norvel and John Adams.
Etta married Marshall Triplett Frame in 1872. She died in 1935, California. Marshall died in 1891 Kansas, memorial 22090039 ·.
