James Russell Moon Jr., died Saturday, May 19, 2007 at a local hospital.


He retired from the U.S. Army after 32 years as a sergeant first class with Special Forces, Green Beret.

He was preceded in death by daughter, Kimberly Moon.

Survivors include his wife, Jennie Moon of Foley; two daughters, Julia Germany of Foley and Jennifer Causey of Montgomery; son, Jimmy Moon of Montgomery; two step-sons, Lee Gray of Hartselle and Ray Gray of Germany (USA active military); two sisters, a brother and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 16 at St. James Episcopal Church in Fairhope.

The family requests memorial donations be made to The Haven Animal Shelter, 559 S. Section St., Fairhope, AL 36532 or to St. James Episcopal Church, 860 N. Section St., Fairhope, AL 36532.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 24 at Elberta City Hall. Burial with full military honors will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 26 at Ashland City Cemetery in Ashland, Ala.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo, 1204 Gulf Shores Parkway, Gulf Shores.

Arrangements are by Pine Rest Funeral Home Inc., Foley.
