Louise Bordeaux Burress, 91, of Wilmington, N.C. died peacefully at Autumn Care of Myrtle Grove surrounded by her family August 20, 2016. Louise was born August 17, 1925, daughter of the late William Alexander Bordeaux and Gibbie Lewis Bordeaux. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Dock Burress of Wilson, NC; three sisters, Marguerite, Sophie Ann, and her twin sister, Elouise; and brothers, Donald, Russel, Edward, and William Bordeaux. She was a long-time member of Sunset Park Baptist Church and cherished her church friends and Sunday School Class. Louise attended New Hanover High School and then, during World War II, a burner at the Wilmington Shipyard working on the many Liberty Ships side-by-side with her sister. After the war she worked in the garment industry, Port City Hosiery until they closed, then Blocks Shirt Company until it closed, Eastern Re-Builders American Standard Singer until her retirement. She and her twin sister were very good dancers and often won awards at the U.S.O. Club and the old Lumina on Wrightsville Beach. Her love for tap dancing gave her an opportunity to dance with Gene Kelly when he performed here in the Wilmington area. She is survived by her daughter, Judy Burress Rountree; two grandchildren, George Rountree IV and Sarah Elizabeth Rountree Kirschner; two great-grandchildren, Shelby Kay Kirschner and Krista Marie Kirschner; and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday August 24, 2016 at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel.
