MOORE, HATTIE, 91 - of Atlantic City, passed away on May 15, 2007 at the Atlantic Care Hospice in Galloway Township following a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. Hattie was born in December 9, 1915 in Beaufort County, NC. She was an only child, predeceased by her mother, Minnie Birt, who was also an only child. Hattie lived and worked in New York City in her youth. While in New York, she was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. She came to Atlantic City in the 1940's and immediately became associated with St. Monica's Roman Catholic Church and was a longtime faithful member until her passing. She never missed Holy Days or Sunday Mass. Hattie worked with the different organizations for fund raisers and was a worker back when Bingo was held in the Parish Hall. She was a member of the Legion of Mary, and the Altar and Rosary Society, and supported every program and project sponsored by the Church. A quiet, private, unassuming individual, she was a kind and generous person to many. She was a woman of faith, loved her God and loved her Church. She leaves to cherish her memory, her faithful caregivers, sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy and Stanley Moore; her faithful "Buddies" and neighbors, Mary Williams and Margaret Smith; two cousins, Betty Pollard and Mary Hamilton; her dear friends, Alma Reed of MD and Cecelia Smith of Atlantic City; along with her St. Monica's Parish Community, and many other caring acquaintances and friends. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated in her honor Friday, June 1, 2007, 11 a.m. at St. Monica's R.C. Church, 108 N. Pennsylvania Ave., Atlantic City. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to Hospice, PO Box 1626, Pleasantville, NJ 08232; or to St. Monica's Church. Arrangements by the Gormley Funeral Home, LLC, Atlantic City.
