Montgomery - Sara "Cooter" Sprague Brooks, 91, of Montgomery, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019.

She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Carleton Keith "Speed" Sprague; her second husband Daniel Jordan Brooks and numerous siblings.

Sara was born and raised in Montgomery, AL, one of the large family of Thomas Walter and Annie Maude Daniel.

She met her future husband Carleton "Speed" Sprague upon his return from WWII.

While he attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, she attended and graduated from the University of Montevallo with honors. After she and "Speed" were married, and upon his commissioning as an officer in the United States Air Force and completion of pilot training, they were stationed at various bases all over the United States. After his death while on active duty, she returned to Montgomery to be closer to her family. She attended Capitol Heights United Methodist Church, the church of her youth, where she served in many capacities and various ways. Sara had a strong faith and demonstrated her great love of Christ in her daily life.

She is survived by five children, Carole Sprague Quallio (Rudy) of Montgomery, Ginger Sprague Lowe (QV) of Wetumpka, Terri Sprague Hamby of Dallas, GA, Linda Sprague Arrighi (Billy) of Pike Road, Jeffrey Scott Sprague (Rosie) of Montgomery and seven beloved grandchildren, Jeffrey Keith Quallio (Karen) of Montgomery, Brian Price Arrighi (Debbie) of Pike Road, Matthew Keith Arrighi (Samantha) of Pike Road, Rachel Hamby Chandler (Jason) of Acworth, GA, Davis Reed Hamby (Caroline) of Dallas, GA, Haley Sprague Thompson (Peter) of Montgomery, Zachary Scott Sprague (Jordan) of Niceville, FL, and fourteen adored great grandchildren; and one sister Annette Daniel Culp.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at Leak Memory Chapel, from 10:30am-11:30am, with a Celebration of Life service to begin at 11:30am, with Rev.Jay Wolf and Rev.Geoffrey Kagoro officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Sara's grandsons, Jeff Quallio, Brian Arrighi, Matt Arrighi, Zach Sprague, Davis Hamby, Jason Chandler, and Peter Thompson.

In lieu of flowers, love offerings may be made to her beloved Capitol Heights United Methodist Church, 2000 Winona Ave, Montgomery, AL 36107.
