Laura “Ann” Ekstrom, 82, of Connersville, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at Fayette Regional Health. She was born on January 30, 1936, in Brook, Indiana, to the late John W. Dorsey and Marjorie Tolley Dorsey.
She was a devoted member of the First United Methodist Church of Connersville and the United Methodist Women. She also belonged to the Order of the Eastern Star, Women of the Moose, Business & Professional Women, the Fayette/Franklin County Hairdressers, and AARP. Ann was active with the Hospital Auxiliary and the Homemakers Extension Group. In 1967, she opened Ann’s Beauty Shop and was the owner for over 50 years.
She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Wayne Ekstrom; three sons, Steve Ekstrom, of Connersville, Mark (Anita) Ekstrom, of Lakeland, FL, and Thomas (Dorinda Sturgeon) Ekstrom, of Connersville; a brother, John (Maxine) Dorsey, of Joplin, MO; a granddaughter, Christian (Darris) Copeland, and a great-grandson, Leslie Skylar Becraft.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Janeen Baldwin.
Visitation for Ann will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Urban-Winkler Funeral Home, Connersville. Eastern Star memorial services will be conducted at 7:30pm on Wednesday, at the funeral home, by Connersville Chapter #346 Order of the Eastern Star. The funeral service will be at 1:00pm on Thursday, January 17, at the funeral home, with her Pastor Frank Oakman and Eric Hopkins officiating. Burial will follow in Springersville Cemetery.
