Mrs. Betty Jean Ivy Smith, 81, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at Bedford Care Nursing Home in Newton, MS.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 16th, at Porter Funeral Home, with Mr. Chris Crowson officiating.

Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Porter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.



Mrs. Smith was born September 30, 1937, in Madison County, MS.

She was a retired cashier from Walmart, and a member of Wess Chapel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her

parents, Lessie Davis Ivy and George Ivy;

two grandchildren, Melinda Smith and Melissa Smith; and one great grandchild, Jordan Smith.



She is survived by a daughter, Penny Ascione and husband, Anthony, of Carthage, MS; four sons, Mitch Smith and wife, Ann, of Tupelo, Mississippi; and Hal Smith, Jeff Smith, and Toby Smith, all of Louisville; a sister, Helen Parker of Pelahatchie, MS; a brother, Billy Ivy of Pelahatchie, MS; 14 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren.
