Mona Ann graduated from Detroit High School in 1959 and from Paris Junior College in 1961. She attended nursing school in Massachusetts and worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years. At the age of 61, she returned to school and became a Registered Nurse. She retired from General Rose Hospital of Denver, CO following a career that spanned 42 years. Mona Ann enjoyed gathering with friends and family and was known for her sense of humor and laughter. She loved holding and singing to babies, whether it be the infants in the hospital or one of her many nieces or nephews. She was an avid sports fan, especially following the Denver Broncos and the Colorado Rockies.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandmother Mary C. Barnwell, and siblings David Barnwell, Frank Barnwell, Mary Drew Gibson, and Michael Barnwell.
Survivors include her siblings Ruth Garrison of Detroit, TX and Neil Victor Barnwell and wife Gail of Bogalusa, LA along with many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held at the First Christian Church in Detroit, TX on Wednesday, January 16 at 3:00. Interment will be at the Detroit Cemetery.
