He was born October 8, 1946, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Dale and Pauline Eakins Conder.
He married Sue Wilt on January 6, 1970. She preceded him in death on July 18, 1999.
He married Debra D. Peek on July 6, 2002.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served in Vietnam. He worked at John Deere Ottumwa Works for 30 years, retiring in April 2002. He was a member of U.A.W. Local #74.
Surviving are his wife, Debra; two daughters, Stacey (Michael) Cook of Ottumwa and Michelle (Scott Roe) Moore of St. Paul, Minnesota; two stepsons, Jimmie Peek of Ottumwa and Christopher A. Peek of Des Moines; three grandchildren, Ronald Houk II, Erin Houk and Sadie Cook; three great-grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; a sister, Martha (Richard Olson) Dietz of Albia and a brother, Gene (Lavina) Conder of Des Moines.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Jennie Conder; and three brothers, infant brother Earl Conder, John Conder and Vernon Conder.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Richard Schlotter officiating. Cremation will follow services. Visitation begins after 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the family present one hour prior to the service.
