Berneta Joyce Baker, 85, of Bloomington, passed away at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 2, 2019) at her home.

Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rosenbaum Funeral Home, Gibson City, with Curt Nettles and Scott Miller officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday prior to service at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Drummer Township Cemetery, Gibson City. Memorials may be directed to Illinois Cancer Care, Bloomington.

Berneta was born March 22, 1933, in Clifty, Ky., a daughter of Guy and Flossie Irene McPherson Moore. She married Raymond F. Baker on June 25, 1955, and they were married for 39 years. He preceded her in death on July 11, 1994.

Surviving are her two daughters, Kimberly (Michael) Brandon, Bloomington, and Teresa (Jim) Crall, Yorktown, Ind.; four grandsons, Heath (Helen) Brandon, Normal, Seth (Alicia) Brandon, Gilbert, Ariz.; Jacob and Joshua Crall, Yorktown, Ind.; six great-grandchildren, Philip, Jack, James, Ruby, Pierce and Jade Brandon; sister, Martha Sue (Joe) Smith, Sidney; brothers, Ronald Moore, Gibson City; Johnny (Brenda) Moore, Fairbury; and Jimmy (Karen) Moore, Melvin; and brother-in-law, Ron Mosby, Deer Park, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Bobby Moore; sister, Leatrice Mosby; sister-in-law, RoseAnn Moore; and sister-in-law, Marlene Moore.

Berneta was the second child of seven. She was born in Kentucky, but grew up on a farm near the Gibson City area. Berneta attended a country school near Gibson City for her elementary education and two years of high school in Gibson City. Then her family moved to a farm near Fairbury and she graduated from Forrest-Strawn-Wing High School in 1952.

Berneta met Raymond at the free show in Strawn and after Raymond returned from the Korean conflict; Berneta and Raymond married. They made their home in Forrest and raised two daughters. She was a homemaker and had a housecleaning business. Berneta was a hard worker who made this world a better place for all of us.

She committed her life to God as a teenager and spent her life serving God, loving him with all her heart, soul and mind. She was a member of the Church of Christ, Northtown Road, Normal. Berneta will be fondly remembered for always serving others.

Berneta was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandma and great-grandma and will be greatly missed.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Royyuru, Dr. Kumar, Elizabeth Wilson and Synergy for their care while Berneta dealt with bone cancer and dementia. Special thank-yous to Angie Peacock for the love and care she gave to Berneta, Advocate Hospice for the comfort and care in her final days, and all the love and prayers from brothers and sisters in Christ.
