Heaven gained an angel when Willie Nell McKee went to rest in the early evening of January 6th, 2019. She was 90 years old. Willie Nell was born to William A. Cassell and Nellie Horton Cassell on Valentine’s Day 1928 in Marshall Arkansas. She was the youngest of 5 with 2 brothers and 2 sisters. She grew up in Elmore City and graduated school after which she married Troy McKee and started a family by having a daughter and a son. Willie Nell became a caregiver at a young age taking care of cousins and family and she continued this role throughout her life. She found joy in caring for all the children and grandchildren. Willie Nell was an extremely talented and creative woman. She enjoyed making ceramics and jewelry, collecting, drawing, painting, and she especially loved sewing, embroidery and crochet.

Her son Tem McKee and wife Diane of Elmore City, granddaughter Penny Davis and husband Coby of Elmore City, great grandsons Tristan and Tucker Davis, Grandson Scott Shreve of Elmore City, granddaughters Mya and Brooklynn Shreve, sister-in-law Jane Cassell and Leona McKee

Willie Nell is preceded in death by her parents, husband Troy McKee, daughter Nelda Jean Shreve and husband Frank Shreve, brothers Venita and D.J. Cassell and sisters Vera Turner and Vena Howard

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2019, at the First Baptist Church of Elmore City. Burial will follow at Elmore City Cemetery.
