Vanda Loraine Poindexter Fowler was born in Sallisaw OK on June 10, 1960 to Ben Watie Poindexter and Mary Elizabeth Crawford Poindexter. Vanda passed from this life on Jan. 6, 2019 in Tulsa OK. She weighed 4 lbs. and 12 oz. and was in an incubator until she went home from the hospital. It is said that she slept in her fathers size 8 shoe box and wore a 19" doll dress. She has always been a fighter. Vanda attended school in Marble city and then on to Sallisaw High School until she completed 10th grade. During her 10th grade , her family moved away and were privileged to have her in our home until she completed the 10th grade. She later earned her GED and then attended tech school in OKC for banking and accounting.
Vanda married Dennis Fowler, Sr on Dec. 31, 1983 and they lived in Yukon until he passed away on Feb. 10, 2011. She was employed as a bank teller and manager for Midfirst Bank for 15 years. After her husband passed away, she then moved to an acreage near Eufaula Lake. She enjoyed being out where she could have a horse (which she dearly loved). She also enjoyed camping and swimming at the lake. She enjoyed watching old western movies especially John Wayne. Vanda attended the Lindsey Chapel Baptist Church at Eufaula. She was a very happy, fun-loving, out-going, caring and generous person. Everyone who knew her loved her. Her most favorite thing was spending time with her family. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed fixing her family's favorite dish-Pork Chop Supreme. She loved preparing and serving Thanksgiving and Christmas Dinners in her home. She was very fond of Blue Grass Gospel music. Vanda especially enjoyed her family coming with their instruments and making music together.
Vanda is survived by her children, 4 daughters, Moriah Abreu (Abrow), of Luther, OK, Felicia Renzelman of Yukon, OK, Melissa Reipma (Reepma) of Nampa, Idaho, Susan Fowler of OKC. 2 sons, T.J. Fowler, Mustang, OK, Dennis Fowler, Jr of Yukon OK. 14 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her mother and stepfather, Mary and Leroy Johnson of Woodward, OK. Her siblings, Cherie Sue Poindexter of Ft. Cobb, Phyllis Hall of Shawnee, Ben Poindexter of OKC, Kara Trammel of Helena, OK. Vanda was preceded in death by husband, Dennis Fowler, Sr., her father Ben Watie Poindexter, and her brother, Jay Poindexter.
