Beloved wife of Dean P. Marella, whom she married on Sept. 7, 1985; loving daughter of Francis Paul and Alice Wilma (Page) McDermott; dear sister of Terrance, James, and Sharon; dear aunt and cousin to many. Maureen was an avid family genealogist and uncovered many hitherto unknown generations of her Irish and Scots ancestry. She connected distant branches of her family with each other and formed life-long friendships. Her research efforts culminated in the hosting of a family reunion at her home in 2004. She was a diligent contributor to Findagrave. She worked in the legal field, and also had a talent for singing. A proud native of Chicago, she later lived in Rodeo, California, and Henderson, Nevada. She was generous and kind, a friend to many, and a very warm, open-hearted individual. Her home was always open to others and she was very welcoming and caring. She loved her pet cats who were part of her family. Author Terri Reid of Freeport, Illinois, penned a short story, Reena's Miracle, in her honor after her passing. A memorial service was held on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 2300 Sunridge Heights Parkway, Henderson, NV.
