Born and raised in Crawford County, she graduated Oblong High School in 1967. With a smile always on her face and kind word to be spoken to all, Carol left her mark on her family, friends, and community. She was one of the founding owners of Pioneer Labels and Illiana Cores. Her faith and love in Jesus and his children was such an inspiration to others. She was highly involved in her church, Hardinville United Methodist and later Prior Grove Baptist, for many, many, many years (We couldn’t actually remember a time she was not) :).
Carol married the love of her life, Mike Murray, June 5th, 1969. They had 46 glorious years to give before the good Lord called Mike home. They raised three daughters together and through these daughters, Carol accomplished one of her greatest honors…becoming a grandma. Carol, known as Grams to her grandkids, was truly a shining light. They all gravitated towards her and her warmth. Blessed was the time they got to spend with her.
Carol is survived by her three daughters, Michelle (Tony) Hamilton of Oblong, Niki (Travis) Huntsman of Indianapolis, IN, and Aprille (Cory) Musgrave of Palestine. She doted on her five grandchildren, Gabe Shonk of Fishers, IN. and Taylor (Johnathan) Amburgey of Oblong, Parker and Noah Huntsman of Indianapolis, IN., and Carson Musgrave of Palestine. Jayden and Ashlynn Amburgey of Oblong, her great-grandchildren, encompassed a whole new generation for her to love. Carol is also survived by her four sisters Sue Youngman of Oblong, Becky (Danny) Mundhenk of Oblong, Lorna (Phil) Freeman of Marshall, and Cheryl Bumgardner of Greencastle, IN. and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mike, her brother, Leroy York, and her parents, Gene York and Yvonne Butler.
Carol fought the good fight and always held herself with such grace. Her presence will be sorely missed, but we have not a doubt we will see her again.
God is Good all the time, and all the time….
