Obituary
Jerry "Jay" Blanton, lovingly known as Pops, died on December 28, 2018. Jay loved deep fried Southern food, beans and corn bread, fishing on the Red River, visits from his grandchildren, having long conversations about the Lord and helping anyone in need. He retired from Union Pacific Railroads after 30 years of service. Jay was a master mason and handyman who never met a vehicle he couldn't fix. Jay was one of the best self-taught mechanics and he loved doing it. He loved to tell stories and you could be sure 100% of every story was true. Marshall Matt Dillon, John Wayne and Clint Eastwood were his TV heroes, and Jay was the hero to all who knew him. Loved ones that cleared the path for Jay are his generous and loving parents, Gus and Mary Blanton. Loved ones that will miss Jay until they meet again are his siblings: Junior (Brenda), Christine (Archie), Lorene, and Mary Lou; his heart of joy, wife Jessie, of 56 years; his five children: Valerie (Clarence), Jerry (Kristi), James (Cheryl), Victor, and Craig (Pamela); his 14 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, cousins, nieces and nephews. Before passing Jay forged a 77 year trial of laughter, generosity, compassion, and wisdom. Pops walked by faith and lived his life in accordance to Gods great commandment Mathew 22:39…"thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself."
