Ms. Haverty was briefly survived by her sister, Marion Haverty Hamm, of Richmond, Virginia who died on December 25, 2018. She is survived by her brother, James Elliot Haverty and his wife, Barbara A. Haverty (née Bryum) of Suffolk, Virginia, numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and a great-grand niece.
Ms. Haverty graduated from Smithfield High School in 1949, from Medical College of Virginia School of Nursing (now Virginia Commonwealth University) in Richmond, Virginia in 1952 and from The University of Wisconsin in 1963.
A private memorial service and internment officiated by Reverend Derek Koolman will be held at Ivy Hill Cemetery in Smithfield, Virginia.
