Viola J. Bowen, 89, of Wilkesville, passed away Friday, December 27, 2013 at O’Bleness Memorial Hospital in Athens. She was born June 28, 1924 in Gahanna, Ohio, daughter of the late Howard Russell and Ida Belle Bixler Armstrong.
Viola retired as the Nutritionist for the Vinton County Senior Citizens Center in McArthur after 31 years of service.
She is survived by her sons, Bill Lucas of Wilkesville and David (Amanda) Lucas of Vinton; daughters, Dianna (Fitzh) Fields of Whitehall and Linda (David) Birkbichler of Johnstown; six grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren and a sister, Lucy Lambert of Sunberry.
Viola was preceded in death by her daughters, Jean Williamson and Brenda Carper and three sons.
Funeral services will be held 11 A.M., Tuesday, December 31, 2013 in the Garrett-Cardaras Funeral Home, 201 W. High St., McArthur, with Rev. David Peoples officiating. Interment will be in Vinton Memorial Park, Vinton. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, one hour prior to the service.
