Jeffrey A "Jeff" Horton, 47, passed away Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Lutheran Church of Hope, West Des Moines, Iowa. with burial at the Woodward Cemetery in Woodward, Iowa.

Jeff was born August 9, 1962 to Fred Bristle and Jance (nee Weyer) Bristle in Perry, Iowa and was later adopted by his mother's second husband, Roger Daniel Horton.

Jeff graduated from Woodward Granger High School in 1981.

Jeff married Cindy Jamison August 6, 1883 at Assumption Catholic Church in Granger, Iowa. They later divorced.

He lived in the Des Moines area most of his life where he worked in sales and management for over 20 years at Excell Marketing, LC., formerly Iowa Periodicals. In 2004 Jeff started his own business, Midwest Tidal Wave, LLC.

Jeff was a longtime active member of Lutheran Church of Hope and was involved in children and youth ministries. He dearly loved his family, enjoyed mentoring many young boys and men, and always looked out for the underdog in life.

He was an avid sports fan who loved the Chicago Cubs.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Patty, whom he married on June 6, 1998; three children, Samantha and A.J. Horton, and Jacy Pugh; adopted father, Roger (his wifeJeri) Horton of Woodward, IA; two sisters, Denise (her husband Frank) Floerchinger of Riverside, IA and Heather (her husband Freddie) Fillers of North Liberty, IA; brother, Michael (his wife Rachel) Horton of Frisco, TX and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his mother, Janice (nee Weyer) Horton.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lutheran Church of Hope. In lieu of flowers a scholarship fund is being established for Jeff's three children and memorial contributions may be directed to his family or to Freedom for Youth in Des Moines.
