Marie was born on December 25, 1927 in Maryville, TN to parents James and Josie Potter.
She was a graduate of Maryville High School, worked for many years as a medical secretary before retiring and was a member of Walland United Methodist Church.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Patricia Harris Simpson Williams and son-in-law, Frank Williams both of Birmingham, AL, grandchildren, David Harris of Nashville, Evan Simpson of Knoxville, Olivia Simpson of Langford, England, step-daughter, Kim Burns Southard, her husband Andy Southard and son Ben Southard.
She is preceded in death by first husband, James R. Harris, second husband, John Burns, sons, Ted Harris and Dickie Harris.
She was loved by many family and friends and will be missed by all.
Family and friends will assemble for graveside service and interment 3:00 PM, Friday, January 4, 2019 at Grandview Cemetery, 2304 Tuckaleechee Pike, Maryville, TN 37803. No receiving of friends will be held, but visitation to say goodbyes is welcomed at Smith Funeral Services on Thursday and Friday. Food will be served for the family in the event room at Smith’s after the burial.
