Obituary for Darrell Eugene Dill
Darrell Eugene Dill, 80, a longtime resident of Martinsville, passed from this life in the comfort of his own home on Friday, July 27, 2018 at 9:15 am surrounded by his loved ones. Darrell’s life began on Saturday, July 23, 1938 in Columbus, Indiana. He was one of three children born to the late Darrell Edward and Olive Mae (West) Dill.

The family moved to Indianapolis from Columbus before eventually settling in Martinsville during the 1940’s. Darrell attended elementary school in Green Township and graduated from Martinsville High School with the class of 1956.

On September 27, 1957 he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara K. “Bobbie Kay” (O’Neal) Dill.
A short time after his high school graduation, Darrell gained employment with General Motors/Allison’s in Indianapolis. He was a dedicated employee at Allison’s for over 34 years when he retired in 1991.
Darrell was an active member of the Morgan County Fair Board for many years and had also served as board president. In addition to his fair involvement, he was the Green Township Trustee for twenty years. Darrell loved the outdoors, fishing and spending time with his family. Above all, he was a proud and devoted husband, father and grandfather.

He leaves behind a host of loving family and dear friends including his wife of nearly 61 years, Barbara K. Dill of Martinsville; daughters, Dawn (husband, Robert) Harmon of Boonville, Indiana, and Dana (husband, George) Coffey of Martinsville; sisters, Sharon Shireman of Indianapolis and Deborah (husband, Gary) Ratliff of Franklin; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Harmon Zachary, Mary K. Deters, Matthew “Zeke” Harmon and Brooke A. Coffey and five great grandchildren.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Mildred Dill and one brother, Tom Dill.
Family and friends are invited to a graveside service celebrating Darrell's life on Saturday, August 11, 2018 beginning at 10:00 am at Centennial Cemetery.
