Thomas Lafayette Rutledge Jr. was born on April 21, 1874 in Pond Springs,Williamson County, Texas. He appeared on the census on May 9, 1910 in Georgetown Road, JP #7. Burnet County, Texas. He appeared on the census for Jan 8, 1920 in 1219 W. 6th Street, Austin, Texas. He died Dec. 29, 1923 in Burnet County, Texas. He was buried in the Bachelor Peak Cemetery, Burnet County, Texas.

When in Burnet County, he worked first in the phone business and then for a mercantile firm. Moved to 1219 W. 6th in Austin in 1918. Worked in various businesses, until moving to and running the Rutledge Hotel at 121 1/2 Congress, Austin, in 1922. He was a diabetic, and died suddenly.

T.L. RUTLEDGE DEAD

T.L. Rutledge, 49, died Saturday evening after an illness of one day's duration.Surviving him are his wife, two children, two sisters and two brothers. Surviving sisters are Miss Marion Rutledge and Mrs. L.East of Austin. Brothers of the deceased are W.O. Rutledge of Austin and Ami Rutledge of Lampasas. The body will be sent to Lampasas for interment today.

TOM RUTLEDGE DEAD


W.E. Fry was called to Bachelor's Peak last Sunday to conduct the funeral of Mr. Tom Rutledge, a former citizen of this place, who died last Saturday night at his home in Austin. He died very suddenly of an affectation of the heart.

While a resident of Burnet, Mr. Rutledge was first in the phone business and then in a mercantile firm. The Bulletin joins other friends in extending condolence to the bereaved
family.
