Mrs. Audrey S. (Shade) Eshleman, 82, a resident of The Brethren Home Community of New Oxford, PA and formerly of Waynesboro, PA passed away Friday, December 28, 2018 in the nursing home.

Born November 5, 1936 in Carlisle, PA she was the son of the late Ernest W. Shade, Sr. and Blanche A. (Hofsass) Shade.

Mrs. Eshleman graduated from Waynesboro Senior High School with the Class of 1954.

She and her husband, the late Omer L. Eshleman, were married June 13, 1959 in Waynesboro. Mr. Eshleman passed away June 3, 2003.

Mrs. Eshleman was employed at the Blue Ridge Food Exchange for 11 years; as a secretary for the business manager at Penn State Mont Alto for four years; and as a bookkeeper at Mont Alto State Bank for 18 years.

She was a member of the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, the CROP Walk since the 1950s, a solicitor for the United Way, NGA for 30 years, the Waynesboro Hospital Auxiliary for 33 years, and the Board of Directors of Waynesboro Human Services.

Mrs. Eshleman enjoyed doing crafts, serving her church and the community, and playing for the Fairchild Cargoettes basketball team in her younger days.

She is survived by three siblings, Alice M. Provard of York, PA, Truster L. “Tuck” Shade of Waynesboro, and Linda K. Hovis of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three siblings, Donald E. Shade, Cynthia Ann Miller, and Ernest W. Shade, Jr.; and her nephew, Matthew R. Hovis.

Services will be held 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 2, 2019 in the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 117 S. Church Street, Waynesboro, with Pastor John Weber officiating.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the services, Wednesday morning, in the church.

Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro, is handling the arrangements.
