Denmark - Services for Rudell Ayer Platt, 80, will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Govan, with burial in St. John's Baptist Church cemetery of Ehrhardt. Memorials may be made to the church. Mercer Funeral Home is in charge. Mrs. Platt, wife of the late Frank H. Platt Sr., died Monday, Dec. 13, 1993. Born in Bamberg County, she was a daughter of the late Lee Edward and Pearline Williams Ayer. She was a member and Sunday school teacher of First Baptist Church of Govan. Surviving are sons, Douglas Smoak of Charlotte, Ray Smoak of Olar and Frank Jr., Ronnie and Wendell Platt of Denmark; a daughter, Scarlet Hutto of Barnwell; brothers, Hallie Ayer of Brunson and Charlie Ayer of Charleston; sisters, Rena Williams and Evelyn Dobson, both of Hampton, Annie Lee Crosby of Charleston and Miriam Driver of North Augusta; 15 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. © The State, Columbia, SC, 15 Dec 1993
